Rolex watches: Opportunities abound for buying luxury brands online auctions

When it comes to wristwatches, Rolex remains among the world’s most recognisable status symbols.

Oyster Perpetual Datejust

This gentleman’s Oyster Perpetual Datejust comes with an original Rolex outer box, inner box, pouch, green wallets with information booklets, as well as a guarantee dated to 1999, and original tags from purchase. It is estimated at £2500-3500 at Plymouth Auction Rooms on February 23.

The brand has long combined impressive Swiss-engineered technical mastery with a sense of style and luxury which makes owning one something which many people aspire to.

While buying a Rolex from a retailer might cost a small fortune, auctions are a great place to buy pre-loved examples at a lower price point. Look out for watches that are offered together with accessories such as papers, boxes, tags, instruction booklets and point of sale materials from its original purchase. These items can add confidence and are of particular interest to collectors.

You’ll find both modern and older models emerging at auctions on a regular basis – even the odd Rolex pocket watch appears from time to time.
