Glass fans to welcome single owner auction of 19 centuries of glass
14 September 2023 The Brian Watson Glass Collection is coming to auction in Norfolk offering a range of examples from the Roman period to the mid-20th century including Venetian, Murano, Bohemian and English glass.
A rare Roman glass cinerarium from the 2nd-3rd century AD. The large globular receptacle with a wide arched lip is estimated at £2000-4000.
Brian Watson was a dealer and collector who died earlier this year and his collection will be offered at Bishop & Miller in a single owner sale on September 27 comprising more than 220 lots.

17th century European glass
A 17th century Facon de Venise wine coupe, c.1670, probably Netherlands, with applied blue wings, plain wide foot and wrythen stem is estimated at £1000-1500.
Murano modern glass
A post modernist Murano glass table centre piece, c.1985, is of a similar style to Ettore Sottsass and estimated at £400-600.
Bohemian glass
These two mid 19th century Bohemian ruby glass flared beakers, (one engraved with horses, stags and dogs and the other with stags, birds and dogs) are estimated at £150-250.
English onion bottle
This late 17th/early 18th century English onion wine bottle, c.1690/1700, with a dumpy stem and bulbous body is estimated at £100-150.
Twist stem wine glass
An English mid-18th century double series opaque twist wine glass, c.1760, estimated at £80-120.
Mid century Czech glass
A 20th century glass Czech vase, c.1940, in bright yellow with a bulbous body and clear yellow foot estimated at £60-90.
