Five modern masters to make your own at auction

Warhol, Lichtenstein and Matisse may have built part of their fame on producing artistic multiples but you can quickly run a bill up into the millions if you search out their work at auction.

One of the most iconic images of the 20th century, Andy Warhol’s silkscreen of Marilyn Monroe is instantly recognisable and yet is estimated here at £600-800. The large, limited-edition silkscreen print has to the verso a label printed published by Sunday B Morning 1970 and features a stamp saying Fill in Your Own Signature.

True blue

Less well known but still attractive, this early- to mid-20th century framed and glazed woodblock print of a bat flying in front of the moon by Japanese artist Takahashi Bihō is signed in plate and offered with an estimate of £300-500.
